Notes

Total minimum credits for the NVCC A.S. Degree in General Studies equals 60. Note: Although this suggested program (62-64 crs.) exceeds the minimum for the AS degree, these courses are SUGGESTED because they maximize your investment in the associates degree and provide a strong foundation for study at Mason.

The course options recommended in this chart are the ones that, in the judgement of the AVT faculty, will best prepare you for success in the B.A. in Art and Visual Technology. In some cases, you may have alternate choices available to meet the AA requirements.

Please Note: Not all NVCC Humanities/Fine Arts electives qualify as General Education Elective requirements (i.e. ENG 211-212, Creative Writing I & II and ART 121-122, Drawing I & II) for NVCC.

While other VCCS courses may also qualify for some of the categories above, we have included those that are most often available. We strongly recommend that you work closely with your VCCS Counselor or Faculty Advisor to assure the most appropriate choices for your major.
