Notes

Please Note: CSC is covered in EGR 120. CSC 201 has a corequisite of MTH 173.

Since NVCC students will have completed EGR 251, they will not be required to take ECE 101 at Mason for the B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Students with credit for EGR 251, 252, and 255 will have satisfied Mason's ECE 280 and may be eligible for a Waiver of ECE 201. If granted the Waiver, the student is responsible for mastering MATLAB, at a level above that in EGR 251, 252, and 255, prior to enrolling in ECE 220. Students should access: http://ece.gmu.edu/matlab/matlab.html. Students with Waivers for ECE 101 and/or ECE 201 must contact the ECE Department to determine appropriate courses to fill in for the "missing" credit hours.

Some of the engineering programs at the community colleges differ slightly, which means that the student must work closely with their Faculty Advisor to obtain the appropriate Petititon for Substitution Waiver forms in order to graduate in the engineering major at a VCCS institution.

Please Note: Not all NVCC Humanities/Fine Arts electives qualify as General Education Elective requirements (i.e. ENG 211-212, Creative Writing I&II and ART 121-122, Drawing I&II) for NVCC.

While other VCCS courses may also qualify for some of the categories above, we have included those that are most often available. We strongly recommend that you work closely with your VCCS Counselor or Faculty Advisor to assure the most appropriate choices for your major.
