Mason Ambassadors

If you’ve ever been on a campus tour or have visited Mason for an admissions event, you’ve probably met a Mason Ambassador. The primary objective of the Mason Ambassadors program is to introduce Mason to a new class of Patriots every year. Ambassadors help encourage pride among the Mason community by promoting the unique traditions and opportunities that define Mason.

Mason Ambassadors are chosen for their desire to share their own Mason experiences with others. Ambassadors create lasting impressions for prospective students who are making their college decisions. They aid the Office of Admissions in recruitment efforts, bring distinguished guests and speakers to campus, and focus on improving the Mason community through their work on campus, as well as in the community at large.

Ambassador membership is offered to incoming freshmen who have demonstrated exemplary leadership skills and involvement in extracurricular activities as documented on their admissions application. In addition, membership is open to all current students who have completed at least one semester at Mason by the point at which they apply.

Applications for membership are open twice per year – once in the fall, and again in the spring. These applications are reviewed by the program advisors and the Executive Board of the Ambassador organization. Applications are posted during the open application dates, or you may contact one of the Mason Ambassador Advisors (listed below) to receive an application.

After review of your application, an interview may be granted. Membership is highly selective, as Mason Ambassadors make up less than one percent of the undergraduate student body. Prospective Ambassadors are reviewed based on a combination of factors, including leadership potential, public speaking skills, communication skills, academic accomplishments, and enthusiasm for Mason.
