Housing & Residence Life

Please indicate your interest in housing on your application. Housing options include residence halls, student apartments, and townhouses. Room and board rates for the current school year are available in PDF format. For more information, visit the Housing & Residence Life website or call them at 703-993-2720.

Dining Services

Students who live in the Residence Halls are required to choose one of the Mason Resident Plans, with exception of seniors (completed 90 credit hours), grad students and students living in apartments and townhouses that have full kitchen facilities. Those students not required to purchase a Residence Plan may still do so, and may also consider one of the many Mason Commuter Plans.

Meal plans may be used at all three George Mason University campuses. Fresh foods prepared directly to your plate are available at Southside, which offers cafeteria-style unlimited service. The cash equivalency program provides students with comfort foods, gourmet coffees and sandwiches, salads, Taco Bell, Freshens Smoothies, Sub Connection sandwiches and more. For more information, visit the Dining Services website or contact Dining Services at 703-993-3300 or the Meal Plan Administrator at 703-993-2870.

Mason Money

Mason Money is our declining-balance debit card system. It can be used at dining locations and stores such as the Bookstore, Parking Services, and Health Services, as well as Express locations for bottled drinks and pre-packaged snacks. Establish your accounts by prepayment of cash, check, Visa, or MasterCard. For more information, visit the Mason Money website or call the All-University Card Office at 703-993-2870.

Financial Aid

Students interested in applying for financial aid should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit it to the Federal Processor by March 1. Applications should be submitted as soon as possible after January 1. For more information, visit the Office of Student Financial Aid website or contact them by phone at 703-993-2353.

Net Price Calculator

If you are applying to Mason as a first-time freshman, you can review your opportunities for possible financial assistance while attending Mason, by visiting our Net Price Calculator which will provide an estimate of awards for which you might be eligible. Please take care to note all of the information on the opening page of this site. For instance, the Calculator ONLY provides estimates based on 2011-12 cost of attendance and not that of future terms of enrollment. Additionally, it will NOT provide you with estimates of any merit-based scholarship awards for which you might qualify. This Calculator is offered only as a “planning tool” for you and your family, as stipulated by federal guidelines. You should never let the outcome of using this tool (nor the use of a tool at any other institution), discourage you from submitting admissions or financial aid applications to those universities in which you are most interested.
