Freshman
Application Deadlines:
October 15 for Spring Semester
January 10 for Fall Semester
- Completed undergraduate freshman
admissions application
- Pay the application fee by credit card, check, or money order made payable to George Mason University
- Official SAT or ACT score(s)
- English proficiency: Either official TOEFL score(s) or IELTS academic exam score(s)
- Certified copies of secondary school transcripts
- Translation of secondary school transcripts if not already in English
- Results of any leaving certificates or university entrance exams
- Essay — a personal statement on any topic of your choice
- Letter(s) of recommendation
Transfer
Application Deadlines:
October 15 for Spring Semester
January 10 for Fall Semester
- Completed undergraduate transfer
admissions application
- Pay the application fee by credit card, check, or money order made payable to George Mason University
- Official transcript for each postsecondary educational institution attended
- Certified translation of each transcript from all postsecondary educational institution attended if not already in English
- Certified evaluation, by an external service, of each transcript from all postsecondary educational institutions attended outside of the United States. We recommend WES and AACRAO.
- English Proficiency: Either official TOEFL score(s), IELTS academic exam score(s), or six semester hours of college-level English composition or literature completed with a grade of C or better at a regionally accredited university or college in the United States
Transfer students who have not attained 30 college credits/completed one year (2 semesters) of study or more will also need to provide the following:
- Official SAT or ACT score(s)
- Certified copies of secondary school transcripts
- Translation of secondary school transcripts if not already in English
- Results of any leaving certificates or university entrance exams
Graduate
Graduate applications are processed by the various schools and colleges within Mason. You should view the individual program requirements and be attentive to deadlines and specific submission items for each.
Graduate applicants who have completed any university study outside of the United States must follow the International Transcript Submission Guidelines (PDF).
- Completed graduate admissions application
- Pay the application fee by credit card, check, or money order made payable to George Mason University
- Official GRE or GMAT scores as required by your program of choice
- English proficiency: Either official TOEFL or IELTS academic exam score
- Two (2) official university transcripts from all schools attended
- Translation of secondary school transcripts if not already in English
- Copy of any diplomas, degrees, or certificates earned
- Essay(s) as required by your program of choice
- Letter(s) of recommendation as required by your program of choice
