This is a recommended program of study for students planning to obtain a VCCS Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Arts and Sciences (A.A.& S.) degree in Liberal Arts with Music Specialization and transfer to George Mason University for a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music.

Admission to the School of Music is competitive.  Transfer applicants are required to successfully pass a music audition to be considered for admission to the B.A. or B.M. degree programs.  Contact the School of Music to schedule your audition immediately after submission of your application:  703.993.1390

Social and Behavioral Science:  Choose one course from: ECO 202,203; PLS 211,212; PSY 201,216,231; SOC 200,212,213;HIS 112,231,232,241,242,252,253,254,256.

Natural Science with Lab:  Choose two courses from:  BIO, CHM, GOL or PHY

Applied music courses are private lessons in your major area of music, e.g. MUS 136 or MUS 145.  Although not required for the VCCS A.A. degree, students are strongly recommended to also take MUS 141 and 142.   Competency placement tests are required of all transfer students who desire to present credit in sight singing, ear training and/keyboard skills.
