Virginia Community College System (VCCS) Transfer Guide

The VCCS Transfer Guides are designed to assist you as you plan your academic career at a Virginia community college. George Mason University recommends that you complete your transfer associate’s degree. We recognize that associate degree programs and course availability varies among the 23 VCCS colleges and that not all students want to earn an associate’s degree before transferring. The courses listed for each major guide are suggestions and fulfill a major, Mason Core or elective component of our bachelor’s degree. The list is not comprehensive. Consult your community college academic advisor each semester before registration.

NOTE: The VCCS has implemented a new course numbering system for mathematics (MTH) courses effective fall 2017. Approximately half of VCCS colleges will offer the “new” courses beginning fall 2017. NOVA and the remainder will begin offering these courses for fall 2018. Be sure to consult the Transfer Credit Matrix linked on each transfer guide to review your choices for selecting the MTH course appropriate to your major.
