Additional Information for International Freshman Applicants

  • VISAs and I-20s

    Students planning to apply for an F1 or J1 visa must submit the required financial documentation in order to obtain an I-20 form or DS-2019 form from Mason. Review these requirements and submit the required documentation by the admission application deadline.

  • English Language Proficiency

    If English is not your native language, you must meet the university’s English language proficiency requirement by submitting a qualifying TOEFL or IELTS score directly from the testing agency. Freshman applicants must have four years of non-ESL English coursework at a US secondary school or an SAT Critical Reading score of 450 or higher to meet our English proficiency requirement without submitting a proficiency test.

  • Official Transcripts

    Please note that if you are currently enrolled in your final year of high school you will be required to present final, official transcripts and/or examination results showing satisfactory grades were received along with verification of your high school graduation prior to enrollment.

    If English is not your native language, you must meet the university’s English language proficiency requirement by submitting a qualifying TOEFL or IELTS score directly from the testing agency or, transfer applicants may present two English composition courses with grades of A, B, or C from a regionally accredited US college or university.

  • Official Transcripts & Evaluations

    Transfer applicants are required to submit official transcripts from ALL previous colleges or universities attended. If you attended an institution outside of the US, a course-by-course evaluation from a NACES recognized evaluation agency is required. Please note that if you are currently enrolled at a college or university, you will be required to present final, official documents showing satisfactory grades were received in your current coursework prior to enrollment.
